About the Expert
Dr. Raffael Himmelsbach is an interdisciplinary research professional who served as co-director of the Ludwig Boltzmann Research Group on Senescence and Healing of Wounds (2020-2024). With a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Lausanne, he specializes in the complex intersections of science, health policy, and society. Dr. Himmelsbach has built a career developing programs that enhance societal responsibility and public engagement in scientific endeavors. His professional experience spans multiple continents, having held positions across Switzerland, the United States, and Scandinavia (Sweden, Denmark, and Norway) before establishing his research presence in Austria. Raffael is now in the process of starting his own practice as a consultant for organizational development, believing that the societal impact of science depends on sustainable research cultures.
