The Expert Talk explores how Artificial Intelligence can be used in science and what limits exist to responsible AI use.

Overview

While AI accelerates research by improving data analysis, modeling, and automation, it also presents challenges like biased learning datasets, lack of transparency, and issues of reproducibility. The EU AI Act serves as a significant regulatory framework addressing some of these challenges, with a risk-based approach that promotes accountability, transparency, and human oversight. While the law sets guardrails, ethical standards are crucial to ensure fairness, prevent harm, and uphold human rights as well. Together we will explore ethical challenges and discuss approaches to use AI responsibly.

This Expert Talk is for researchers and everyone working in a research organization.
