Expert Talk – Being a Researcher in an Online World🌎👩‍💻

Being noted as a researcher depends on network effects – as the relevance of online networks is increasing, it’s more important than ever to think about being a researcher in an online world and to take advantage of new opportunities.

During the LBG Career Center Expert Talk, Jan Smeddinck, Co-Director and PI at the LBI for Digital Health and Prevention, shared his considerations on do’s & don’ts and best practices for the online presence of researchers.

Some key take-aways:

  • Emphasize work that you would like the world to notice
  • Consistency is key – your online identity is built over the long term
  • Keep it simple, authentic & adjust to different audiences
  • The internet is a two way medium – collaborate & connect with others!
